How to Purchase Second Hand Souvenirs
Must all souvenirs be purchased during your vacation? The answer is NO.
Often times I visited used book stores or book sales and found a travel guide or picture book of a destination. These have sometimes inspired me to visit a particular site that I had been unaware of.
On occasion, I have also purchased shot glasses for my collection from second hand stores. When I later visited the destination featured on the shot glass, I was able to save valuable time for sightseeing because I no longer had to hunt for a shot glass (which sometimes turned out to be unavailable anyway).
Clearly there is an element of chance involved in finding a second hand item. However the money you will later save while traveling could be significant.
Always be on the lookout for second hand items like:
• Picture books of a destination
•
Travel guide books
• Nic nacs (shot glasses, spoons, plates etc).
• Other items of interest to you.
Advantages of Second Hand Purchases
• You avoid having to carry larger items as you travel.
• It is often cheaper to purchase second hand items.
• You can purchase items years later as a memento.
• Advanced purchasing may assist you with your travel planning.
• You are less likely to buy on impulse because you are not traveling at the time of your purchase.
